In battle, he tends to favor either a 'walk up and punch him in the face' or 'stand back and blow his head open like a ripe casaba melon' approach, at least that's how he terms it. While some people may consider him to be used as a blunt instrument, he can actually more properly utilized, with a little direction and perhaps supervision, as the walking WMD(Weapon of Mass Destruction/Distraction) he is. That is, one should point him in the right direction and watch the ensuing carnage, assuming that one doesn't have other matters to attend to.
Outside of battle, he actually is much more controllable, and can function as a suitable sniper if no other can be found. Able to not only lie in wait for hours or even days, supplies permitting, but he can function quite acceptably even without a spotter. And his ability to put himself into a trance and dilate his visual perception, at the cost of all other senses beyond the feeling in his arms and hands, allows him to make excellent shots, even in the most trying conditions.
However, he tends to only work well with his CO and immediate team members; all others he tends to ignore unless necessary. The reason he cannot form close bonds with others is that everyone he knew from birth died when he was 8, and his 'second family', the terrorist group that adopted him, also recently perished. It is this fundamental wall that prevents him from being able to progress in the ranks or as a human being.

HISTORY: Born 17 years previous, Raven was born Joyce Chen in Guangdong, China; to middle class parents, one Chinese and one French. While growing up, he wasn't ill treated at all, only raised, like many other children in his neighborhood, to dislike the Britannia empire, but this was natural, as most people in the country disliked and distrusted Britannia anyway.
When he was 8, the neighborhood where he had lived until then went up in flames, the blame for the arson going to Britannia. (in truth, some kid was just being dumb with matches) Taking that to heart, he began to fully hate Britannia, and joined an Anti-Britannia militia somewhere in the middle east. It was there that he gained his guns, one after another, and eventually, after getting quite the reputation within the organization, was given a custom made mobile weapon that departed from the humanoid Knightmare frames: the 'Genosaurer'; as well as a nickname: 'The Raven', a classic western symbol of death.
However, shortly after that, the entire group was eliminated. That was one year ago. Ever since then, he was wandered about conducting guerrilla raids on Britannian facilities. Rumors have begun to emerge about his presence in Japan, Europe, and several other nations.[/size][/ul]
